Overview:
Tourism is undoubtedly one of the fastest developing and promising industries of the Slovak national economy. The position of Slovakia in the heart of Europe on the intersection of trade routes, the cultural and historical wealth and the
favorable climatic conditions, create potential for the development of tourism in our country.
The foundation of the Slovak Tourist Board constantly contributes to the successful introduction of the Slovak tourism product on the international tourism market. The Slovak Tourist Board was set up by the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic on the 1st September 1995 as a non -commercial
organization. The main tasks of the board are to assist in the development of tourism to achieve the goals of economic prosperity in Slovakia and to create an awareness of the Slovak Republic as a beautiful host country with plenty of natural and other tourist attractions. This process takes into account the need to protect the environment and sustain the standard of living of the population.
