Michael Stolowitzky, IIPT Ambassador at Large and President & CEO, American Tourism Society, Speaking at a forum organized by the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) at the World Travel Market in London, November 6, 2006, said "Peace is too important to leave it to the politicians." He added that it was up to the Travel Industry's private sector in the Middle East to make the effort to cooperate and promote the region as a whole.
Stolowitzky was joined by Eli Gonen, President Sheraton Israel. Gonen, speaking as President, Israel Hotel Association, "There is no other place in the world that can boast the number of rich historical and archeological treasures as the countries of Egypt, Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority. The tourism potential of these sites present an extraordinary opportunity for joint marketing efforts by the private sector of all four countries."
